View Full Version : September discussion: Where did you grow up?
I grew up on a farm in rural South Australia.
My parents still live there and I love to take my own family there to stay.
Nearby is a tiny town where everyone literally knows everyone.
It was a great place to grow up!
How about you?
I grew up in country NSW but I my parents were from Sydney so I was never quite a local. It was a great place to grow up, I had lots of freedom and what can only be termed an idylic childhood. Funny, I wouldn't dream of living in the country now :)
Me either!
Well, actually, I probably could, but it's just not practical. I'd love a few acres, a bit of scrub, and being a bit removed (but close enough to the city for conveniences ;)) but special schooling would be difficult as my DD is disabled.

I grew up in Woodford - Blue Mountains NSW. It was a great place to grow up - me and my brother used to hand out together all the time. Go bushwalking and explored everywhere.
When we moved there in 1970 it was in the middle of nowwhere. I can't imagine living there now.
I like it where we are a rural area 20 mins from Penrith.:)

I grew up in St Marys, typical suburban area but wouldnt complain about it. Now I have children of my own we have moved to Mount Riverview in the Blue Mountains (not as far up as Woodford) but we have a decnt block that the kids have enough room to run around, we back the bush so when they get a bit older they can go exploring and as you said Moi not too far from civilisation. Penrith is 15 minutes away.
Sounds wonderful! The Blue Mountains are beautiful!

Mind if I ask how old you are? Chances are we either know each other or have friends in common. I'm guess you went to Lake High?

It's a small world, isn't it!?

sure is, i dont know anyone around me that scraps. my family isn't the crafty type, so its great to know there is someone close that i can talk to.
No my family doesn't scrap either ... but my sisters and Mum are all pretty crafty - sewing, knitting, embroidery, crochet, quilting ...

That was sort of around the corner I think. I loved it up there too, but Woodford is my fav place out of all the places I have lived, probably because I grew up there.
