View Full Version : Weekly question: How much would you spend on a layout?
I have a rule of thumb - I expect my layouts to average about $5 each. Sometimes it might be $6-7 and occasionally even more, but I also have some layouts that might only be $3 or $4.
If I spend say $50 on supplies, I figure I should get about 10 layouts from that - obviously depending what I am buying, I might buy extra cardstock to be able to get 10 layouts, if you know what I mean.
What do you spend?

umm, ive never ereally thought about it. I think i would be a fairly cheap scrapper as i am new to it all and mostly use paper, cardstock maybe a flower or bling. But i do love rubons!!:p

Yup moi i am similar to you, i have to spend at least 5 bucks or a bit more on a layout. I find most of my layouts are relativily cheap due to me making most of my embellishments out of PP. I love pp and if i can utilise it i will any way possible.

I think my layouts are $5-$10
I just use whatever i have in my stash that makes the LO look good ;)

I have a huge stash of stuff that is from even when I started the scrap of your life. So I continaully try and use that stash up. I have my stuff inside and my stock in our big back room which is my store. So to sum it all up I would spend abouy $5 too on a layout. . If I need to add an extra thing I will usually then go hunting in the stock, but only if i have too......
Hmm, it's not something I calculate - I use what I have and I like what I use ;) I don't tend to buy stuff with particular LOs in mind and even though I regularly purchase kits I tend to mix everything up - old and new, this kit with a bit of that kit - so really I'd have no idea how much each bit of my LO would cost (sometimes I don't have any idea where it came from). I think I'm happy not knowing.:)
Julie - I think having a store in my house would be way to tempting for me!
I don't restrict myself to that budget because it kind of evens out in the end - but if I tot up a layout, I usually count $1 for a sheet of cardstock, 50c for say another half a sheet, $1 for say a half a sheet of patterned paper and a bit more, 10c each for chipboard letters or Thickers, then buttons, ribbon, brads, other stickers, thread etc.
Most of mine add up to between $4 and $6 - occasionally I'll add up a layout and find I've spent $10!!! But equally, there are times when I've just used minimal cardstock, PP scraps and not a lot else which brings the average back down.
I just can't relate to spending $60 on supplies and making three layouts ...
Whoa - never thought of it in those terms - but then I never follow the instructions that come with kits ;) Right I've just done a little calculation based on your rule of thumb and... most of my LOs cost about the same as yours lol. There is a scrapper selling scrapped pages for others on ebay and she charges $20 a page - ouch!
$20!!! Lordy!!! I suppose she is accounting for her time ... I don't bring that into the equation. It's not something I would ever do for money - only love!!!
